WHAT AUTHENTICATION INCLUDES
Every detail deserves attention.
A numismatic report describes the coin and identifies both the examined piece and the professional taking responsibility for it.
01
Examination and authenticity
We examine the coin directly to assess its authenticity and characteristics.
Where useful, we supplement the examination with a professional XRF spectrometer for non-invasive metal analysis, preserving the coin’s integrity.
02
Attribution and condition
Identification, condition grade, rarity and any noteworthy features.
03
Label and sealing
The coin is sealed in a pouch suitable for metal preservation. Its label carries the assessment details, the expert’s registration references and signature.
Monetaio authentication combines examination of the coin with accompanying documentation. Pouches and sealing rivets are customised and identifiable; the label features the expert’s signature and registration references.
For photographic documentation or assignments with specific requirements, we agree the format, contents and fee beforehand.

BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT
Frequently asked questions.
Can you authenticate a coin from a photograph?
Authentication requires direct examination of the coin. A photograph can help introduce the material and agree the assignment; it does not replace examination of the piece.
Can I use Monetaio from other provinces of Friuli Venezia Giulia?
Yes. If you come from Udine, Pordenone or Gorizia, you can arrange an appointment at our Trieste premises. Alternatively, the postal service can be organised by prior arrangement.
Does authentication include a photographic certificate?
The stated fees cover authentication of one coin with a label and sealing. For photographic documentation or certificates with specific requirements, we agree the contents and cost beforehand.
How do I request a valuation for an estate?
Contact us, describing the material and the purpose of the assignment. The Valuations page explains the process and fees; a valuation requires direct examination of the material.
